I do not know of any locksmith that has the ability to cut a router style key as most are done while liked to the car computer system. Then, if the key does not have it chip, if it is a router cut style, then back to the dealer. Some locksmiths have, and for $5,000 I can buy one, a system that will allow a 'chip' cut and then a chip program copy. Depending on your car, the computer will shut the car down after X miles or minutes of driving time and most then require a trip to the dealer to be re-programmed. If so, I can only make a 'valet' key which can not be used for normal driving. So, yes I have a large selection of car key blanks and can copy car keys, however, unless you have a very simple car without even a basic alarm system or you are driving a 1968 Ford it may be kinda hard.įirst I have to test to see if you key has a 'chip' inside.
